Special Lecture by Lynne Z. Bassett, textile and costume specialist, and co-author of Homefront & Battlefield: Quilts & Context in the Civil War. The book is based on the very popular touring exhibit sponsored by the American Textile History Museum, a Smithsonian affiliate. VQM’s Botanical Album quilt was included in the exhibit.
Friday’s events begin with an opening session at The Heritage Museum, followed by an overview of the Geography & Cultures of the area given by HRHS Resident Historian Dale MacAllister. A Quilt Turning presenting the HRHS Collections and independent touring of the Museum and Genealogy & Research Library will complete the afternoon activities.
