What’s in your scrapbook, attic, display case, and memory box?
A featured exhibition on the Second World War is in the planning stages at The Heritage Museum. Scheduled to open in November, the exhibition is an opportunity to share the memories of both the homefront and battlefront of the 1940s.
The Heritage Museum is seeking stories from the community to help share this history. Please consider what memories or collections you might have in your attic or on your shelf. For example,
- dog tags
- trench art
- model airplanes
- family history
Items are requested by September 15, 2017. All items will be on loan during the exhibition period (November 2017 – March 2018), except for scannable items. Photographs and documents which can be scanned safely will be displayed as digital reproductions, and originals will be returned prior to the exhibition end.
The Heritage Museum offers a secure facility and locked exhibition cases. All items are treated with extreme care. You are welcome to visit the museum for a tour and discussion with the Director if security is a concern or to learn more about the exhibition plan. Please contact Penny through the eNews sign up at the bottom of this page. (If you are not interested in the eNews, please mention so in your comment.)
Financial contributions are also welcome to support the installation of the exhibit. You can be a history hero by donating through the DONATE button on this page.
Thank you for participating to help share a richer story of local history!
