Cross Keys & Port Republic Civil War Kids Camp
June 16, 2018, 9 am–3 pm, $35 per participant
This summer, help your kids experience the Shenandoah Valley’s vital role in our nation’s history.
The Cross Keys/Port Republic Kids Camp is an educational opportunity for children ages 8 to 12 to spend the day at an original battlefield site and experience the camp life of a Civil War soldier.
The day includes living history, an artillery demonstration, a tour of the historic Frank Kemper House (the Port Republic Museum), and a mock battle – with the students as the soldiers. Lunch is included.
Children will learn how the war affected not only the soldiers of both sides, but also the families and civilians as they struggled to manage their lives in the midst of this heartbreaking period in our nation’s history.
Location: The village of Port Republic off Route 253, near the Port Republic Museum, 8691 Water St., Port Republic, Virginia, 24471.
