Cooks Creek Bridge is under construction and will be closed July 8th to August 16th, 2019. That means all traffic entering College Street from Silver Lake and Eberly Roads will be blocked. But don’t worry! The Heritage Museum is easy to access via a quick detour through historic downtown Dayton.
If you are coning from North on Route 42, turn right onto Eberly Road, left on Main Street, right on Mill Street, and right on High Street.
If you are coming from South on Route 42, turn left on Huffman Drive (or Mason Street), right on Main Street, left on Thompson Street, and right on High Street.
If coming from Silver Lake, take Routes 735 and 736 to Bowman Road and follow it right to High Street and The Heritage Museum.
- From points North exit Interstate I-81 exit 245. Turn right off exit ramp heading west on Port Republic Road/Maryland Avenue. Turn left (south) on VA Route 42/High Street. Turn right (west) on Eberly Road/Route 732. Go to the stop sign. Turn left, go over the one-lane bridge and take a quick right onto Bowman Road. Take next left onto High Street. You’ll see the facilities on the left.
- From points South exit Interstate I-81 exit 241 and follow Tourist Information Center signs. Turn left off exit ramp heading west on VA-257 West. Turn right onto US-11 N. Turn left onto State Route 704/Oakwood Dr.Turn right onto Main St/Old Virginia 42 Business N. Turn left onto Thompson Street at second Dayton stoplight (poultry plant on the right). Turn right onto Main Street. Bear left at Triangle Building onto College Street. Turn left at stop sign onto Bowman Road. Take next left onto High Street. You’ll see the facilities on the left.
